Adsense for Videos almost ready!
Google posted today on their blog about the launch of their new Adsense feature, this is about Ads inside your Youtube videos:
In a very short time, watching videos online has become a common pastime, and the imagination of artists and other content owners continues to fuel this trend. Meanwhile, across the industry, advertisers and video publishers continue to look for the best solution that balances the needs of video fans with the need for video sites to generate the revenue that enables them to continue to be creative as they grow.It all started when Google bought Youtube for $1.6 billion... and now, 9 months after Adsense for video was in private beta... it's finally here (almost as I said before)!
The ads format? Video and text. Both of them come in a banner.

What should Digg do next?

This will make a big change to the Digg system, why? How will stories get to the front page will change.
It solves a common problem found on Digg and other sites where multiple articles on the same story compete with each other to get to the home page. One person may submit a story from USAToday. Another may submit basically the same story but from the Washington Post. Those stories are tracked separately on Digg, and votes are split between them as users discover them
How should I make this? On the homepage display the stories with the most diggs and below them (on a little line over there) I would add the similar stories (also known as duplicates) ordered by time of submission.

Quickies: Yahoo! Filters Pirate Bay From Search Results
As of this weekend, Yahoo started to filter some of Pirate Bay’s pages. For some mysterious reason, several pages from the tracker disappeared from Yahoo’s index. Unintentionally or not, a search for “The Pirate Bay” doesn’t show a link to the homepage of the popular BitTorrent tracker.

Doodle for Google

Doodle 4 Google gives U.S. students in grades K-12 the opportunity to design a doodle for the Google homepage. Students will be asked to draw a doodle that best represents the theme "What if...?" We ask ourselves this question every day when we build our products, so we thought we would ask the same of the future doodlers.
How a doodle is made?

Yahoo Buzz! New competitor for Digg or Google
According to valleywag.com Yahoo plans to launch a Digg competitor on 26th of February.

Buzz, built under the direction of VP Tapan Bhat, will begin with a limited number of publishers -- about 100 -- and will rank stories based on popular search results and user voting. By summer, Buzz will open to the entire Yahoo Publisher Network. In other words, if you let Yahoo sell ads on your site, it will allow your stories to appear on Buzz.It is a little bit different from what Digg makes. When submiting a story to Digg you just have to wait for the visitors to come and visit the website. If you want this from Yahoo you will need to have Yahoo ads on your site (not good...). And another different thing? You can submit stories on Digg even though you don't own that website that has the story, while on Yahoo you will simply can not because of the ads.
Why a competitor for Google? People who will use this service will need to publish Yahoo ads instead of Adsense ones (from Google).

Digsby: Manage Social Networks, Email and IM - 1000 invites

If you are the one who talks to friends, co-workers and others using several different IM services, check several email accounts or even use multiple Social networks such as MySpace or Facebook you would like to link them all together in one simple and clean software.
The software is called Digsby and it will help you organize your contacts from Yahoo messenger, Google Talk, Jabber, ICQ, AOL IM and Windows Live Messenger, e-mail, Facebook and MySpace into one single client.
So it allows you to talk to your contacts no matter which IM they use, you have an e-mail notifier and a pop-up to keep track of your Facebook or MySpace account.
Want to take Digsby for a spin? Even if it's in private beta, we managed to get 1000 invites for all our iMoka readers. Enough talk, it's time for action, if you want to try Digsby simply go to download and install Digsby and when prompted for an invitation code simply enter "imoka".
The installation goes very smooth and you can even create your Digsby account from there (which is very good). After the instalation you can simply add your IM, email and social network accounts to the client. Go to Tools > Preferences to add them.
This is the best way to link all of the above in one single software and I recommend it 100%.
System requirements:
Windows XP and Windows Vista. No version for Mac or Linux as they are currently under development.
Installation:
- Download Digsby
- Install it and when asked for an invitation code enter imoka
- Add you accounts and you are ready to go!
What would I change at the MacBook Air?

Display: First of all, Apple wanted this MacBook to be Ultra-Portable which means the 13-inch display is a little big for it. Maybe a 11 or a 12-inch would be better.
Optical drive: Now what everybody saw at this laptop is that it doesn't have an optical drive. I think that you need one. Even if you don't really use it... at some certain point it will come in handy.
CPU: 1.6 or 1.8GHz (C2D)? I don't think it's that good. A lot of new notebooks have 2.0 or even better CPUs.
HDD: 80GB? Hmm... it could be better.
Built in Ethernet port: because I don't think everyone has a wireless router.
USB Ports? 1 more could be better.
and...
Price: $3000 for the 1.8GHz one is way to much!
Conclusion? Apple sacrificed performance to make MBA a thin notebook. If you are a regular user you may not see that this is bad but in the long run it would be better to have a thicker notebook with better performance.

Yahoo! goes Live and then goes Playback

Yahoo! recently launched Y! Live. What is this? If you have a webcam you can start streaming live video to a dedicated site or so it should be. Why am I saying this? Because this service went down as soon as it appeared online. If you go to their website you can read:

Yahoo! Live is an experimental release. We’ve experienced heavy traffic and are taking a breather to tune things up a bit.
