Facebook now in german
It isn’t apparent if Facebook’s translation into Spanish has resulted in significant growth since it was rolled out only weeks ago. So far Columbia has over 1 million members but other Spanish speaking countries don’t have as large of a Facebook presence. Only time will tell but for now, all your German friends can now surf Facebook comfortably in their native language.

Digsby: Manage Social Networks, Email and IM - 1000 invites

If you are the one who talks to friends, co-workers and others using several different IM services, check several email accounts or even use multiple Social networks such as MySpace or Facebook you would like to link them all together in one simple and clean software.
The software is called Digsby and it will help you organize your contacts from Yahoo messenger, Google Talk, Jabber, ICQ, AOL IM and Windows Live Messenger, e-mail, Facebook and MySpace into one single client.
So it allows you to talk to your contacts no matter which IM they use, you have an e-mail notifier and a pop-up to keep track of your Facebook or MySpace account.
Want to take Digsby for a spin? Even if it's in private beta, we managed to get 1000 invites for all our iMoka readers. Enough talk, it's time for action, if you want to try Digsby simply go to download and install Digsby and when prompted for an invitation code simply enter "imoka".
The installation goes very smooth and you can even create your Digsby account from there (which is very good). After the instalation you can simply add your IM, email and social network accounts to the client. Go to Tools > Preferences to add them.
This is the best way to link all of the above in one single software and I recommend it 100%.
System requirements:
Windows XP and Windows Vista. No version for Mac or Linux as they are currently under development.
Installation:
- Download Digsby
- Install it and when asked for an invitation code enter imoka
- Add you accounts and you are ready to go!
Vista SP1 available on the torrent sites
Not to long after Service pack 1 for Windows Vista was released to manufacturers... a simple "The pirate bay" user posted on the internet the 32bit and the 64bit of the "Windows Vista SP1 Standalone Installer ".
Enough said... here are TPB links:

Windows Vista SP1 realease dates
So here are those release dates we were (and are) waiting for:
- In mid-March, we will release Windows Vista SP1 to Windows Update (in English, French, Spanish, German and Japanese) and to the download center on microsoft.com. Customers who visit Windows Update can choose to install Service Pack 1. If Windows Update determines that the system has one of the drivers we know to be problematic, then Windows Update will not offer SP1. Since we know that some customers may want to update to SP1 anyhow, the download center will allow anyone who wants to install SP1 to do so.
- In mid-April, we will begin delivering Windows Vista SP1 to Windows Vista customers who have chosen to have updates downloaded automatically. That said, any system that Windows Update determines has a driver known to not update successfully will not get SP1 automatically. As updates for these drivers become available, they will be installed automatically by Windows Update, which will unblock these systems from getting Service Pack 1. The result is that more and more systems will automatically get SP1, but only when we are confident they will have a good experience.
- The remaining languages will RTM in April.
I would have to say that this is a little late... BUT... maybe we will have SP1 faster on the world of torrents (leaked of course) because:
Today we are excited to announce that we have released Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista to manufacturing (RTM) for our first set of languages (English, French, Spanish, German and Japanese).
Google and Microsoft talking to each other
Recently Google posted his opinion on the Microsoft's bid to buy Yahoo. Now Microsoft came with a press release. Now let's compare those two:
Microsoft:
The combination of Microsoft and Yahoo! will create a more competitive marketplace by establishing a compelling number two competitor for Internet search and online advertising. The alternative scenarios only lead to less competition on the Internet.Google:Today, Google is the dominant search engine and advertising company on the Web. Google has amassed about 75 percent of paid search revenues worldwide and its share continues to grow. According to published reports, Google currently has more than 65 percent search query share in the U.S. and more than 85 percent in Europe. Microsoft and Yahoo! on the other hand have roughly 30 percent combined in the U.S. and approximately 10 percent combined in Europe.
So Microsoft's hostile bid for Yahoo! raises troubling questions. This is about more than simply a financial transaction, one company taking over another. It's about preserving the underlying principles of the Internet: openness and innovation. The conclusion? Microsoft says that this will be the best for the internet, bringing more openness and innovation while Google thinks that this will ruin the internet (exactly what I think).
Could Microsoft now attempt to exert the same sort of inappropriate and illegal influence over the Internet that it did with the PC? While the Internet rewards competitive innovation, Microsoft has frequently sought to establish proprietary monopolies -- and then leverage its dominance into new, adjacent markets.
Google thinks Microsoft+Yahoo will ruin the internet
And this is what I also think...
In a public post on the Official Google Blog, David Drummond writes some sad lines of text:
So Microsoft's hostile bid for Yahoo! raises troubling questions. This is about more than simply a financial transaction, one company taking over another. It's about preserving the underlying principles of the Internet: openness and innovation.
Could Microsoft now attempt to exert the same sort of inappropriate and illegal influence over the Internet that it did with the PC? Google is for sure a little bit (more) afraid of this Microsoft and Yahoo love. I think they don't have the reasons to be scared because Google is the best in terms of Searching technology because of their Pagerank.
People don't want Microsoft to buy Yahoo!
after viewing some pictures on Flickr, reading some comments and so on, I saw that a lot of people will be really sad if Yahoo will go to Microsoft. Images from people complaining on the Microsoft-Yahoo "wedding" appeared soon over the internet:
Quickies: Microsoft to buy Yahoo?
This could be for real because Microsoft made an offer of $45B to Yahoo to acquire all outstanding shares of Yahoo!
REDMOND, Wash. — Feb. 1, 2008 — Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:MSFT) today announced that it has made a proposal to the Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) Board of Directors to acquire all the outstanding shares of Yahoo! common stock for per share consideration of $31 representing a total equity value of approximately $44.6 billion. Microsoft’s proposal would allow the Yahoo! shareholders to elect to receive cash or a fixed number of shares of Microsoft common stock, with the total consideration payable to Yahoo! shareholders consisting of one-half cash and one-half Microsoft common stock. The offer represents a 62 percent premium above the closing price of Yahoo! common stock on Jan. 31, 2008.
"We have great respect for Yahoo!, and together we can offer an increasingly exciting set of solutions for consumers, publishers and advertisers while becoming better positioned to compete in the online services market," said Steve Ballmer.

Windows 7 M1 available for download!?
After Windows 7 Milestone 1 had been released to a few lucky guys, fake uploads of Windows 7 appeared on some well known torrent sites such as mininova, isohunt.
The new Windows 7 is scheduled to be the next version of Microsoft Windows
A little search on YouTorrent will give you some clues about what I am talking about.
I suggest you not to download anything for now because all of this are fake.

No dual-boot OLPC is in the works, says Microsoft
Is Microsoft working on building a laptop for the OLPC (One Laptop Per Child) program? Yes, but the intended machine will run Windows XP only, rather than both Windows XP and Linux, Microsoft officials said today, refuting an earlier report that made the waves on Slashdot.

Dual-boot for OLPC
OLPC and Microsoft are both working on developing a dual-boot system for laptops aimed at kids from the developing countries.
"We are working with them very closely to make a dual-boot system so that, like on an Apple, you can boot either one up. The version that's up and running of Windows on the XO is very fast, it's very, very successful. We're working very hard to do both," said Nicholas Negroponte, chairman of OLPC.
I think this is an important step in the One Laptop per Child (OLPC) project. Bringing Windows to the low cost laptops will let users to test something different from Linux.

4 things to make your computer faster
Here I made a little list that you can try if you really need that little something that can make your PC move faster:
1. Use Readyboost (if you run Windows Vista), a tool that let's you add more memory to your PC using your memory card or USB flash drive. Good if you have a memory card/flash drive that you don't use at that moment (also you can set how much of the space available you want to use to speed up your computer) Read more
2. Buy more Memory. This one is maybe the best thing you would want to do if you really want performance. You might say why because I already have Readyboost? Yes but Readyboost uses your memory card/flash drive, you USB port (or your memory card reader) and many people doesn't want to go with Readyboost because they consider it doesn't improve your performance as a memory card does. To run Vista you need a minimum of 1GB RAM but I recommend you something like 1,5GB or even 2GB of RAM
3. Upgrade your drivers. Using the latest software for your hardware could lead in better performance most of the time.
4. Overclock your computer. This one is for advanced users. You can add more performance by stressing your hardware to work to it's best. Note that you can shorten your hardware life or even damage it if you make a stupid move. Read here
2,3 and 4 also work with other Operating Systems!
